One of the easiest methods of finding a reputable entertainer for an event these
days is to use the services of a reputable entertainment agency. This ensures
that the entertainer you book is the best one for the job. The agent will determine
exactly what your requirements are such as:
Type of event, date, time, duration of event.
Type and age bracket of audience.
Location of event – both geographically and physical (i.e. an hotel, a
private garden, a street festival, a shopping centre etc….)
Type of performer(s) required – jugglers, stiltwalkers, magicians, acrobats,
contortionists, balloon modellers etc…
Style of performance – show, walkabout, meet’n’greet, circus
workshop etc…and be able to assist you if you are unsure.
The agent will then contact suitable performers, check their availability, obtain
a quote, determine exactly what is provided and relay all this information to
you. This saves you the trouble of sorting through potentially dozens of entertainers
without any knowledge of them or their act. The other advantage of using an
agency is that you can guarantee that the act booked will have their own Public
Liability Insurance and in many cases will have been police checked, particularly
if they regularly work with children.
One important point to check is that the agent you are thinking of using will
issue a contract to both you, as the client, and to the performer so that everything
necessary is down in writing for both parties (some agents, unfortunately don’t
do this!!) to ensure the event runs smoothly.
