London has always been famous for the magical aura that it creates at Christmas time. Regent Street in particular comes alive during the festive season, the entire distance between Piccadilly and Oxford Circus lit up with thousands of twinkling lights depicting blockbuster movie scenes such as Narnia or The Incredibles.
The streets of Covent Garden are awash with Christmas shoppers wrapped up against the cold, the smell of roasting chestnuts and sound of excited chatter permeating the air creating an unbelievable buzz.
The capital sure knows how to throw a great party at the best of times and Christmas is no different. Take a cursory glance at a few Christmas party websites and a whole host of London Christmas parties leap off the pages. This year more than ever before, what is quite clear is that the Big Smoke’s party venues are pushing the boat out in terms of food, theming and entertainment.
Madame Tussauds will be throwing open its doors for a Christmas party night with their family of wax model celebrities; The London Dungeon will be celebrating ‘The Last Supper’, with a judge sentencing random guests to their doom and an after-dinner dance with the Dungeon DJ! Elsewhere, The ‘Gherkin’ will be opening its epic glass dome, towering 180 metres above the City below, to Christmas party groups, an extremely rare occurrence indeed. World-class food and wine is on the menu, so this is definitely one that’s worth every penny!
What is it that makes London such a great place to throw a company Christmas event? Perhaps it’s the fact that after the festivities are over, there are a whole host of internationally-renowned night clubs to continue the party at. The excellent transport links back to the suburbs, with night buses running 24/7, help to ensure that nobody feels the need to rush back home early; centuries-old buildings such as Somerset House and Inner Temple that have been converted into party venues make for totally unique places to host an event, unlike anywhere else in the country. But, most of all, it is the magical atmosphere created by London at Christmas time that fosters the ideal Christmas party environment.
