Melinda Hughes’ formula of sophisticated and classic cabaret from Cole Porter, to Sondheim is a winning formula for your evening. Her sparkling presentation combined with her wit and elegance provides that extra touch of class to an evening.
The elegant Melinda Hughes has performed her own cabaret show at venues such as Pizza on the park London, Bylaugh Hall, Chiswick House, The Chelsea Arts Club, London and The Waldorf Astoria, New York. She tackles those age old subjects such as love, ambition, music, being single in the city and oh yes… love with songs such as I’m hip (Dave Frishberg), Art is calling for me, Tell me the truth about love (Britten), I hate men (Cole Porter) Spring will be a little late this year and the S&M comic numbers masochism tango and I never do anything twice presented in Victorian costume and jewel encrusted whip. She also sings classic standards of Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Frank Loesser and Gershwin.
Melinda wrote and produced “From Love to Decay” a musical comedy at The Jermyn Street Theatre in February 2002 and works with pianist Tim Murray and with the musical ensemble Too Darn Hot. She has also teamed up with the sexy blonde one-woman of mass destruction Charlie Bicknell performing hits from Cabaret, James Bond, Chicago and other musicals.
