Accidental Asian wedding for Thetford couple

Hailey and Gary Wilson had not planned to have an Asian wedding, but their big day was filled with sights and sounds of the Punjab when their council made a mistake which saw their wedding coincide with a Sikh party.

Thetford's King's House was booked for the Wilsons to tie the knot, while had accidentally also being booked for the 'Heart-beat of Punjab' event, the Eastern Daily Press reports.

Despite the mix-up, the couple were pleased to incorporate the Punjab-themed event into their own wedding.

The event was filled with Punjabi music and dance, as well as delicious food and drink.

Twenty-six-year-old Mrs Wilson told the newspaper: "This was a total surprise. We were asked whether we wanted to be involved and we thought we might as well.

"It's not everyone who has Punjabi dancers at their wedding. This has made our day."

The event was put on by the Jugnu Bhangra Group from Gravesend in Kent and formed part of celebrations of Anglo Sikh Heritage Week, running from September 15th to 23rd.
