Arrange Me a Marriage to begin on BBC

Asia's answer to Blind Date is soon to hit UK television screens, it has been announced.

Presented by Aneela Rahman, a British Pakistani, Arrange Me a Marriage, will show single people how they can find The One by sticking to the principles of Asian arrange marriages.

The five part series will begin on BBC2 in December and see Ms Rahman guide British lonely hearts towards a perfect partner.

The presenter said: "Most Asians are introduced to potential partners by the people who know them best – their family and friends – and the suitors are selected in a very matter-of-fact way based on who might be most compatible."

She aims to help people find prospective partners by taking into account background, education and life goals, but still ensuring that both people are attracted to each other.

Ms Rahman said: "I believe that there is a strong chance of making a successful marriage if as many of these key factors as possible are taken into account."
