Asian weddings 'getting increasingly extravagant'

Yorkshire was said to be making the most of the Asian wedding market as the Asian Bridal and Lifestyle Exhibition 2009 came to the Ramada in Leeds.

According to the Halifax Courier, the size of industry, which it said is worth £300 million, means that it is worth capitalising on.

The paper has suggested that the industry is of interest to local businesses because "British-Asian weddings are getting increasingly extravagant".

The Halifax Courier stated that the average cost of Asian ceremonies was approximately £50,000 and it said that the industry was experiencing more than ten per cent growth each year.

Asianimage.co.uk recently reported on two mothers who got together to start up their own catering businesses, Spice Fusion Corporate Catering.

The pair received advice and help in setting up their website via the No Limits Get Set Programme.

A business plan was drafted and the company now offers Halal Indian and English food as well as catering for weddings and corporate parties.ADNFCR-1121-ID-18996631-ADNFCR
