Wayne Rooney and future wife Coleen McLoughlin have reportedly decided not to invite David and Victoria Beckham to their £3.2 million wedding this summer.
The Manchester United striker drew up a shortlist of potential invitees, including Premiership stars Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and John Terry.
But his fiance has insisted that the extravagant bash must be celebrated with close family and friends, removing several high profile guests from the list.
Chelsea and England players Terry and Lampard will not feature, neither will Posh and Becks, though Liverpool skipper Gerrard is likely to attend, as his wife Alex is a close friend of Coleen's.
"Most of their friends are people from Croxeth and they live in a different world to these footballers," a friend of the couple told the Mirror.
"Coleen said that their friends must take precedence over celebrities. Wayne wanted Becks and Posh but Coleen wasn't sure and their names are not on the final list.
"Victoria is known for turning up at weddings looking more fabulous than the bride and Coleen doesn't want that pressure," the pal explained to the tabloid.
Though the long-awaited union is likely to be more low-key than expected, British boxing ace Ricky Hatton is tipped as certain to attend.
Wayne and Coleen plan to stretch the festivities over at least three nights in three different countries.
The pair are said to be planning parties in the south of France and Sicily, though the exact date and venue of the actual nuptials is a closely guarded secret.
