Beyonce and Jay-Z secretly marry
Despite the best efforts to keep the news quiet, it has been confirmed that R&B singer Beyonce has tied the knot with rapper boyfriend Jay-Z.
People magazine reports that the wedding was a low-key ceremony in New York City, attended by only close friends and family.
"Jay wanted it to be a really private affair," a close friend of the couple told the publication.
High profile guests witnessing the nuptials included Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, as well as the Destiny's Child trio Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and Kanye West.
Beyonce, a Grammy Award-winning singer and Golden Globe-nominated actress, has been dating Jay-Z since 2002.
The rapper has also won several Grammy Awards and was until recently the chief executive of Def Jam Recordings and Roc-A-Fella Records.
The chosen date of the marriage - 4th April 2008 - is said to have a special significance to the pair.
The successful duo filed for a marriage licence last week, heightening speculation that their union was imminent.
