Gareth Gates to marry

Former Pop Idol star Gareth Gates has announced he will be tying the knot, according to reports.

The singer, who stammered his way to become runner-up in the ITV talent show, is to marry his girlfriend Suzanne Mole.

The 23-year-old has been dating the 32-year-old for five years.

He wrote on his website: "I have some really exciting news I want to share with you... After a great Christmas I proposed to Suzanne on New Year's Eve, and she said yes!

"We are both extremely happy and look forward to planning our wedding and life together."

It is not yet known when and where the wedding will be held.
