Alan Hansen to host charity corporate event

Liverpool legend Alan Hansen will be helping to raise money and awareness for lung cancer care at a corporate event in Southport later this year.

Organised by the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, the corporate event will involve a day of golf at the Hillside Golf Club with a selection of sporting luminaries.

The course's newly refurbished clubhouse will also host a prize-giving dinner complete with entertainment to wrap up the day.

"This is the ninth year that I have hosted the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation's Annual Golf Classic at Hillside Golf Course," the TV pundit told the Southport Visiter.

"I am proud to be associated with this important charity and to help them to raise awareness about lung cancer and much-needed funds for their unique research and support for patients and their carers."

Fellow TV pundits and football players will be joining Hansen for the fundraising day, though names have yet to be confirmed for the September 18th tee off.

Helen Raghu, corporate events manager for the Roy Castle charity said: "We are very grateful to Alan Hansen, who has given the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation brilliant support.

"This special event will provide everyone with a great day of golf on one of the UK's finest courses, followed by a fantastic sportsperson's dinner with quality entertainment," she told the local paper.

Businesses are invited to sponsor the event, or give backing to the charity, of which Alan Hansen is a patron.
