Charity event challenges corporate cyclists

A charitable new corporate event in Manchester will challenge executives to test their cycling mettle against their business rivals in a bid to raise £30,000 for the NSPCC.

MEN Media and the NCC Group have joined forces to stage the event, which will take place at the Manchester Velodrome on Sunday, June 29th.

Businesses are invited to submit competitors for the 50-mile corporate challenge, while more ambitious cyclists can participate in the 50-mile sporting or 70-mile endurance races.

A Cycle Challenge Village will give visitors the chance to meet riders, network with local business leaders, mingle with cycling stars, purchase the latest equipment, or try out a range of challenges.

"This is a unique chance for Manchester's businesses to get to know the track where the Great British cycling team recently won nine gold medals at the World Track Championships and to discover the challenging and beautiful scenery around the city," said Rod Ellingworth of British Cycling, the men’s under-23 endurance national coach.

"It is also an opportunity to find out why so many people are rediscovering cycling at the moment - all while raising cash for the NSPCC's worthy cause."

NSPCC corporate manager Martin Ashton added: "The NCC Group, the Manchester Velodrome and British Cycling are giving the NSPCC a wonderful opportunity to raise money for the services we provide children and young people in Greater Manchester."

As well as using the very track where British athletes swept the board at the latest world championships, participants will see many of the city's sights if they take on some of the additional challenges.ADNFCR-1121-ID-18594232-ADNFCR
