With the office Christmas party season well and truly underway, a website has provided partygoers with tips on how to survive the next few weeks.
While officebroker.com advises that everyone attends their festive corporate event, regardless of whether they like their boss or not.
But it warned that people should not drink too much because it clouds their judgment and may cause embarrassment.
"We've all heard stories about people making fools of themselves at the office Christmas party," said Officebroker.com's managing director Andy Haywood.
"These tales may be a source of great amusement but the truth is, too much alcohol and merriment can affect perceptions and have a negative impact on your career."
He said, however, that the Christmas party is also a great time to network and "improve other people's opinions of you".
Mr Haywood added: "Handled correctly, it could further your career, not ruin it."
