Brakes Group commended for reducing impact on environment
Brakes Group, a supplier to the catering industry, has been recognised as Green Wholesaler of the Year at the Grocer Gold Awards.
The decision was made in recognition of the fact that Brakes Group had made a considerable effort to reduce its impact on the environment while at the same time upholding the level of service it provides to its customers.
Special mention was made of the company's work to minimise its carbon footprint through the use of biodiesel in its transportation fleet and electricity generated from renewable sources to reduce the amount of packaging used in its products.
"Winning Green Wholesaler of the Year is a fantastic achievement, underlining our commitment to deliver excellence to our customers in a sustainable and responsible way," commented group chief executive Frank McKay.
According to the Publican, Brakes Group recently collected nine prizes at the British Frozen Food Federation 2008 awards, including Catering Product of the Year.
The company's real French Butter Brioche Loaf went down especially well.
