BSI launches green events planning standard
BSI British Standards has launched guidance for planning and managing corporate events in a way that is sustainable and environmentally-friendly.
It is hoped that the standard, BS 8901, will help businesses manage the impact that their conferences, concerts and sporting events have on the environment.
The standard will also assess the effects that such events have on local communities, website Business Green reports.
A spokesman for BSI said that companies could also cut their financial costs by using lower levels of energy.
She told the website: "If there is enough demand for certification from the events industry, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) may consider providing accreditation for certification bodies.
"Accreditation would ensure that the certification process is of a consistently high standard."
