As the office Christmas party season approaches, Britons are being warned to be careful they do not suffer from alcohol-related injuries.
New research by onepoll.com revealed that nearly half of Brits have had an accident while drunk.
Injuries included hangover headaches, bruises, concussion, sprained or twisted ankles, and broken bones, with many oblivious as to how the injuries came about.
The study found that 14 per cent of the 3,000 people polled said they had burned themselves while drunk.
A significant number of people had lost teeth and torn ligaments after having a few too many drinks.
A spokesman for onepoll.com said: "It's staggering to think how many Brits have suffered an injury while under the influence.
"With the Christmas party season in full swing, things could get a whole lot worse.
"Revellers need to take care of themselves as a moment's lapse of concentration or act of stupidity can lead to some nasty injuries."
The poll reported in the Daily Record revealed that many revellers are too embarrassed to tell their friends and loved ones about their injuries that they lie about their origins, with excuses including falling down the stairs.
