Corporate event butler company crowned heat winner

A Hampshire company providing scantily-clad butlers for corporate events, hen nights and parties has won the latest round of a local Dragons Den-style competition.

Butlers2Go, started by former school teacher Gill Vigus in Portsmouth, took first place in the third round of Mentor Magic.

The competition is organised by the Chamber of Commerce and this latest round saw small businesses compete at the University of Portsmouth, with the butler company voted the best business idea by the judges.

The eventual winner in the grand final will win free consultancy from Deloitte, The News newspaper in Portsmouth reports.

Judge Nicola Youern, chief executive of Southern Focus Trust, said at the contest: "I think it's a very simple business model. It's very effective and very profitable if I've done the sums right.

"I racked my brains over how you could improve recruitment, and instead of talking about interviewing candidates, I think you should be offering "auditions" at places like student gyms."
