Meeting Professionals International has "broken meetings industry taboo" by bringing together competing trade associations for its conference next year, according to an industry official.
Didier Scaillet, director of European operations and global development at Meeting Professionals International, made the announcement at a press conference at EIBTM in Barcelona last week.
MPI's European Professional Education Conference will take place in London in April 2008.
Mr Scaillet said: "London is the ideal platform to deliver the objectives of the European Meetings and Events Conference."
It will also bring together key professionals, including buyers and sellers, from all over the world.
David Hornby of VisitLondon said that it was a good thing to widen the audience.
He commented: "If you change the audience, you change the dynamic. We want to widen the audience and the debate by attracting people who do not normally attend MPI events and do not see themselves as being in the events industry."
