Hospitality boss to open new pubs

A hospitality industry investor is taking part in a project to open up to 50 pubs around the country.

Investor Robert Breare is teaming up with Sir John Ritblat, the chairman of British Land, to open the pubs.

The pair jointly own company Kamside, which is planning to buyout Merchant Inns, the Morning Advertiser reports.

A company source told the newspaper: "The sites we plan to buy will absolutely be staying as pubs - we really believe, though, in the emergence of an accommodation category we call luxury budget."

New high quality rooms which would be suitable for events and functions are to be a key part of the new pubs, which will have around £4 million of investment each.
