Food and beverage suppliers are meeting demands from hospitality industry operators to supply sustainable goods, a new survey has revealed.
A study by procurement specialist Partners in Purchasing (PIP) found that a significant number of the 150 manufacturers had increased their sustainable products to meet the rise in corporate social responsibility among operators.
The products included Fairtrade items, organic produce and more food sourced locally, website Caterersearch.com reports.
Diana Spellman, managing director of PIP, said: "There's an encouraging amount of suppliers demonstrating environmental responsibility.
"However, this will need to evolve further as most environmentally-friendly products still account for only a small proportion of revenue - no more than ten per cent."
