RBS to splash £1m on Christmas party
Staff at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) can look forward to a right royal festive season as the company has announced it is spending £1 million on Christmas parties.
The company, which is about to receive £20 billion from the government, has allocated £10 per head to each of its 100,000 staff across the country.
Bosses in different departments will be able to spend that money as they see fit on appropriate corporate events for their teams.
It seems that staff at the company are often treated by their employers, with recent revelations that it spent more than £300,000 entertaining 40 senior employees and 30 partners from its Banassurance branch.
RBS has come under fire since the figure for its Christmas party spend was revealed, the Scotsman reports.
But a source told the newspaper: "Our policy has always been that the group will contribute up to £10 to individuals for Christmas parties. It is done on a departmental basis at a business level. The contribution is fairly modest."
