Rugby club Worcester Warriors has received a £5 million boost from The Royal bank of Scotland to help it establish its stadium as one of the leading corporate events venues in the Midlands.
Under the new £8 million revamp of the Sixways Stadium, around 120-metres of the interior of the East Stand will be given over to corporate entertainment, with a number of hospitality boxes to be constructed alongside a top-class restaurant.
It is hoped that the panoramic pitch-side view offered by the new facilities will help boost the number of clients looking for a conference destination with a difference.
Welcoming the bank's cash injection, Cecil Duckworth, chairman of Worcester Warriors, told the Birmingham Post that the new stand "will provide fans and corporate customers much needed extra space and amenities, and the corporate entertainment facilities will be the most impressive and spacious available in the region".
This news comes soon after the rugby team, which currently lies tenth in the Guinness Premiership, secured a long-term sponsorship deal with brewery giant Carlsberg to promote its Tetley's brand of bitter.
