A country hotel in Shropshire, which has held a number of corporate events and weddings, is being forced to close, according to reports.
The move follows the local council's planning meeting, which has refused permission for a large marquee to be kept on the grounds.
The marquee, which has been at the Tern Hill Hotel in Market Drayton since 1989, can hold around 350 people, making it a perfect venue for corporate functions or parties.
However, North Shropshire District Council said that a survey conducted by the Environment Agency raised concerns about the safety of the venue, CatererSearch reports.
At the planning meeting, Councillor Jean Mainwaring said: "Last time we granted permission we definitely said it would be the last time, so I am going to say we should refuse it."
The news has come as a shock to Anne-Marie Brennan, the hotel owner, who says that the property will lose too much business if it does not have the marquee.
