SportsAid unveils new corporate event

The charity SportsAid has launched a new corporate triathlon event, designed to raise money to train aspiring new athletes, with the inaugural run due to take place in July.

Teams of three executives will be invited to participate in the SportsAid Corporate Triathlon Challenge, which will take place in the grounds of Ragley Hall in Alcester, home to the Marquess and Marchioness of Hereford.

SportsAid provides financial assistance to up-and-coming young British sporting talent, supporting in the region of 1,500 disabled and able-bodied athletes each year.

The new corporate event will consist of a 750 metre swim in open water, a cycle race over 20 kilometres and five kilometre run.

Teams can either compete individually, by each attempting all three of the disciplines, or in the team relay, with each team member taking on one discipline.

After competing in the triathlon, executives will be treated to a buffet meal in the Great Hall, with the chance to listen to celebrity speakers from the spheres of business and sport, as well as network with fellow fundraisers.

Tim Lawler, chief executive of SportsAid, said: "SportsAid is very pleased to be involved with this exciting new event. Triathlon has great appeal as such a dynamic sport and SportsAid increasingly has great support from the commercial sector, so hopefully it’s a perfect mix.

"The funds raised will make a real difference to talented young sports people at such a key time for British sport."

In the past, SportsAid has provided funding for some of the leading British athletes, including Paula Radcliffe, Sir Steve Redgrave, Dame Kelly Holmes, Amir Khan, Ben Ainslie and Sir Matthew Pinsent.ADNFCR-1121-ID-18530207-ADNFCR
