A banner manufacturer has come up with an innovative way of recycling banners and flags used to publicise one-off corporate events.
Britten subsidiary priorLIFE recently delivered 150 tote bags to the David Cup organising committee, made from banners used to advertise the competition.
Between April 11th and 13th, the building wraps, banners and flags were used to welcome visitors to the Davis Cup quarter final between the United States and France.
The unique range of recycled bags are to be distributed to volunteers that helped make the event possible.
"We worked with Corporate Communications, the US Tennis Association and Britten reseller to recycle these event banners into chic, one-of-a-kind tote bags for the event volunteers," explained priorLIFE director Pam Klumpp.
"The banner bags not only give people a chance to carry a piece of that event with them, they give companies and organisations the opportunity to be environmentally friendly."
Emblazoned on each bag was the message 'USA/France David Cup Quarter Final Tie' complete with the date and venue, while inside each was a tennis ball plus details of how the carriers were made.
Winston-Salem Davis Cup volunteer co-director Doug Roberts said: "Commemorating [the volunteers'] experience with this special bad while knowing we weren't contributing to the landfills was a smart solution."
Volunteers involved in the event included hospitality workers, ball people, coaches, drivers, valets, greeters, production assistants, coordinators, support staff, artists and entertainment personnel.
