An altruistic couple from Devon held a charity ball as part of their wedding day celebrations this summer, according to local media reports.
Newlyweds Jonathan and Gemma Bendle raised more than £8,000 for charities Cancer Research UK and Children's Hospice South West when they held the ball as a wedding reception of sorts.
Jonathan's parents Nicola and John organised the event, which took place at Gladhayes Farm in Clayhidon on August 14th.
A swanky jazz band, an auction of promises and a prize draw all featured at the event held in a marquee provided by Devon and Somerset Marquees, the Express & Echo reports.
The ball took place three days after Jonathan and Gemma tied the knot.
Dawn Harrison, area volunteer manager at Cancer Research UK, told the newspaper: "I would like to extend a special thank you to Nicole and John Bendle, Sir Nigel and Lady Susan Essenligh and Savanne Gogswell for all their help and support in organising such an amazing event, especially so soon after their son's wedding."
Cancer Research UK and the Children's Hospice South West received just over £4,000 each from the charity fundraiser.
