It's that time of year again when revellers are getting ready to head to Christmas parties armed with festive gifts.
A new survey has revealed just how much Britons spend on these presents for friends and loved ones.
The average person spends £384 on Christmas presents on around 18 presents, with the most of course being spend on children.
One in ten keen consumers are so well-prepared that they start their Christmas shopping in September.
However, almost half of men do not hit the shops for festive presents until December.
It seems that men are also less generous than their female counterparts, spending £355 on average compared to women's £412. The study by Halifax also found that northerners spend more on presents than any other region of the UK.
