Blackpool is still a leading place to go for hen nights and stag dos, new research from over the summer reveals.
The northern UK city saw a significant increase in internet hotel room bookings in August, according to a survey by Laterooms.
The figures came as a welcome surprise to tourism officials who had predicted a slowdown in Blackpool holiday bookings as a result of poor weather over the summer.
But the study showed that there were more than 5,000 hotel room reservations during the month - up from around 3,000 in July.
Tony Walsh, development director at Laterooms, said: "Despite the washout, we have had some good weekends this summer.
"People no longer book their holidays months in advance. Now breaks can be arranged based on the weather forecast - so there are no unpleasant surprises."
