Bollywood a "growing" market in the UK

It seems that Bollywood parties could become more frequent in the UK as the films continue increasing in popularity.

The Times of India reports that Bollywood films are becoming a major player in the film market in Britain due to the fact that more than two million people from South Asia live here.

In order to tap into this market producers have started to include storylines in the films which are particularly relevant to people living in the UK.

Examples of this include Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge which did particularly well in Britain.

Mark Batey, chief executive of the Film Distributors Association, told the newspaper: "It is a regular feature now to see Indian films featuring in the weekly top ten chart of the UK.

"In a year, the top 20 films tend to be UK or US films with very wide, cross-market appeal whereas Bollywood is inevitably a niche market in the UK, albeit an important and growing one."
