Eastern Europe 'increasingly popular corporate events location'

Eastern Europe has been touted as the "emerging market" for corporate hospitality.

According to Grant Seaman, managing director of Cumbria-based Resolution Events, demand for businesses trips to eastern Europe and Turkey is increasing noticeably at the expense of more established locations such as Dubai.

"Eastern Europe is the emerging market for corporate hospitality, and you get an awful lot more for your money there than in the Middle East, which is saturated and approaching its peak," Mr Seaman told Recruiter.

"The cost of living there is a lot less than in Dubai, which is very commercialised and famous for golf and horse racing. I'd say that Eastern Europe and Turkey are now competing to be the main hospitality venues."

One of the options available to businessmen considering taking their customers to eastern Europe is dinner at a former KGB interrogation centre in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Prior to the meal visitors are taught to fire a Kalashnikov sub-automatic machine gun and given the option to drive a Soviet tank.

However, the less daring could also consider renting former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev's Lithuanian summer house instead.
