Three quarters of corporate event organisers concur that environmental awareness is an increasingly important factor when staging events.
A new ec0event poll shows that the majority of planners are very conscious of the need and responsibility to stage green events and conferences.
More than nine in ten of the respondents indicated there was a niche in the market for more sustainable products to aid corporate event organisers.
In particular, the responses singled out organic caterers, energy efficient lighting and recycled equipment as services that were not widely available enough.
Two-thirds said that working with environmentally conscious venues and suppliers was a top priority.
At present, 19 per cent work exclusively with green venues and suppliers, while an additional 46 per cent may adopt this policy in the near future.
Four in ten regularly request a copy of the corporate event supplier's environmental policy and almost a third use environmental certification as a basis for their choice of venue and supplier.
The respondents hailed from a variety of corporate event management firms across London and the UK. More than half stage 25 or more events per year, while six tenths have an annual budget of at least £1 million.
