Britons are planning to spend more on Christmas parties and presents this year than they did last year, according to a new survey.
Research by American Express found that consumers are planning to spend £511 on average up £50 on last year - with the guys intending to fork out £60 more than their female counterparts.
The study found that men plan to spend £311 on presents this year, compared to women who will be spending an average of £302.
Meanwhile, men will also fork out the most on festive food and drinks - £177 compared to women's £148.
Commenting on the survey, Tom Allder, vice president of UK lending at American Express, said: "Wise men and women should be looking around for ways to make the most of their Christmas spending."
