Mums have revealed they get anxious and stressed out when it comes to organising their children's birthday parties.
Around 45 per cent of survey respondents said they find planning the events overwhelming and become anxious over it.
But the survey also showed that traditional birthday parties with jelly and ice cream, pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey were still popular.
Around 86 per cent said they would be likely to have pass the parcel at a children's party, while 67 per cent would play pin the tail on the donkey and 74 per cent would have jelly and ice cream.
While most parties are still held at home, mums and dads are looking for increasingly innovative venues to hold their children's parties.
Jane Manson, director of Children's Party Directory, said: "The survey found that the party active age for children was between six and ten years, with 39 per cent in this age group attending up to ten parties a year and 29 per cent attending up to 15 parties a year.
"But even before they start school, they are starting to become party animals with a quarter of children under six attending up to five parties a year.
"So with six to ten-year-olds going to so many a year, the cost of being sociable will quickly add up!"
