A new poll reveals that failing to show up for a friend's nuptials is the worst wedding day sin imaginable.
Conducted by WeddingChannel.com, the survey shows that a third of brides believe neglecting to arrive for the big day is the worst insult to a newly married couple.
The research also reveals that 55 per cent feel turning up for the wedding day reception but failing to make the ceremony is a horrendous faux pas.
Other wedding misdemeanours cited by brides in the poll include getting too drunk on the free alcohol, or clashing with the wife-to-be by wearing white.
Grumbling about the event, or switching seats during the ceremony are other mistakes singled out by women interviewed by WeddingChannel.com.
"All too often, wedding guests mess up," said Summer Krecke, the site's deputy editor. "They drink too much, ask if they can bring an uninvited guest, or dare to ask the bride if they can try on her engagement ring.
"While guests may not be aware of their bad behaviour, brides and grooms often feel frustrated by their guests' blunders," she added.
Another cardinal wedding sin cited by brides is giving a recycled gift to the newly married couple, without removing the original message or inscription.
