While the credit crunch may spell doom and gloom for many sectors, the wedding industry is still thriving, according to experts.
A poll of exhibitors at the British Bridal Exhibition revealed that the wedding sector has been unaffected by the credit crunch.
Around 61 per cent of exhibitors said the credit crunch has not touched the marriage industry because people will tie the knot regardless of the economic climate.
Just seven per cent of respondents said there had been a definite effect on the wedding industry as a result of the credit crunch.
Around a third said that the wedding industry had been hit to some extent, but that brides and grooms have been more careful with their budgets.
Lawrence Goldberg, designer of Ele Weddings, said there are certain things that couples will always spend on, including the wedding dress.
He said: "A bride will always want to spend the money on her wedding dress, it's her big day and as far as the bride is concerned, what is the credit crunch?"
