Brides 'fuelling demand for royalty-themed weddings'

The need for a bride to feel like a princess on her wedding day is driving demand for royalty-like weddings, it has been claimed.

According to wedding industry expert and designer Nina Duong, of Nina Duong Haute Couture, brides are becoming increasingly creative as they attempt to tailor their weddings exactly to their tastes - with weddings inspired by members of the royal family proving the most popular.

"The trend of princess dresses, castle ceremonies and receptions has been growing in the past few years," Ms Duong, who designs bridal gowns, commented.

She believes that the marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana is still the standard bearer for brides keen to recreate a wedding with a royal flavour.

As a result, destination weddings are becoming more sought after, especially in European castles.

Ms Duong said that England and France were the most popular destinations for couples with grandiose wedding plans as a result of the abundance of royal wedding-like locations.
