Jamelia and footballer to tie the knot

Pop starlet Jamelia and Darren Byfield could soon be holding a lavish wedding, as the pair have got engaged.

The Bristol City player proposed to his long-term girlfriend during a surprise party she organised for his birthday.

Jamelia, whose songs include Money, Superstar and Thank You, said of the engagement: "I'm completely over the moon. Darren proposing was a real surprise but I'm totally delighted. I can't stop smiling!"

The pair have been together for three years and plan to tie the knot on June 6th 2008, ITN reports.

They have a one-year-old daughter together called Tiani and Jamelia has another six-year-old daughter called Teja.

According to media reports, plans for the details of the wedding have already begun.
