Online guide unearths perfect bridal bolt holes

A new online guide to intimate venues around the world for unforgettable hen nights, chic weddings and picturesque honeymoons was launched last week.

Bridal Bolt Holes is described as a little black book of unsung locations for sophisticated brides seeking the ideal spot for a marital party, ceremony or holiday.

The website panders to the increasingly widespread penchant for small and intimate occasions with a circle of close friends in an exotic location.

"With the average age for marriage among couples in the UK now pushing 30, weddings are increasingly less about great aunts and more about great mates," said Bridal Bolt Holes founder Sian Williams.

Highlights include Tetbury's Berkeley House, which blends sleek Georgian features with classic furnishings and regularly features in fashion and interior magazines.

Its owner Lena Proudlock has emblazoned the mansion with original photographic prints and offers exclusive hire for hen nights or weddings, sleeping up to 18 guests, from £2,950 for two nights.

For those looking further afield, there is the Masseria Torre Coccaro in Italy, a converted watchtower built in the 16th century replete with a private beach, an Aveda spa, an indoor pool and rooms carved into the rock.

The five-star boutique hotel lays on unforgettable weddings from £122 per guest and can accommodate guests in double rooms starting at £168 per night.

"Couples are not necessarily spending less but opting for smaller more decadent weddings for the same budget," Ms Williams continued.

"Their attitude is: 'Why spend £50 to £100 per head on 100 or more friends and family you rarely see when you can commandeer an entire French chateau, Italian villa or small boutique hotel and treat 30 of your closest friends and family to an event they'll never forget?'"ADNFCR-1121-ID-18476700-ADNFCR
