Brides-to-be should consider adding a bit of individuality to their wedding by choosing to walk down the aisle in a red dress, according to a wedding expert.
Ariel Meadow Stallings, the author of Offbeat Bride: Taffeta-Free Alternatives for Independent Brides, said that red wedding dresses symbolise "a deeper commitment to doing what you want".
She maintained however that your wedding day is not necessarily the right time to be "rebellious" or "reactionary" but wearing a fiery red dress will reflect the bride's independence and strength, Canadian website straight.com reports.
A number of celebrity weddings have seen the brides strut their stuff in red recently, including glamour model Jodie Marsh's nuptials with BBC radio's Matt Peacock.
The pair found each other on Jodie's MTV reality TV show Totally Jodie Marsh: Who'll Take Her Up the Aisle, but the couple have since divorced.
Sandra Sung, a Canadian bridal suite owner, told the website that red dresses may also have cultural connotations.
She said: "Red is happiness, like Christmas. It's very bright and you feel different when you're wearing red. That's why in Asia, including India, the colour for weddings is red."
