Wedding at the races

If you're looking for something special for your wedding day venue, why not try the luxury and class of a racecourse.

Racecourses are providing an increasingly popular romantic setting for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Last year Newcastle Racecourse hosted more than 30 weddings and its bosses say that it is a perfect location, the Journal reports.

Such venues can offer all that you need in just one spot - from the ceremony to the wedding breakfast to the reception and knees-up.

Racecourses can also cater for smaller and more intimate wedding parties, or can provide a great atmosphere for a grand do.

David Williamson, executive director, told the newspaper: "Newcastle Racecourse is one of the most atmospheric and romantic wedding venues in the region.

"Brandling House is a magnificent Grade II-listed building, dating from 1762, an age of elegance which is reflected in the house's grand staircase and imposing rooms. And all this looks out over the course itself and the beautiful 812-acre Gosforth Park Estate."
