Tourism officials are encouraging couples to consider tying the knot in York, according to reports.
York Tourism Bureau has launched a campaign to promote the romance of the city and its potential for great wedding venue destinations.
York has quirky venues, including the National Railway Museum and the Yorkshire Wheel, or the grand Treasurer's House and Merchant Adventurers' Hall, which would all make great locations.
Gillian Cruddas, chief executive of York Tourism Bureau, told the York Press: "York has so many romantic places to tie the knot and we're widely known as a city of romance.
"We believe there simply isn't a city in the UK that can beat our unusual venues. At the National Railway Museum you can marry on the platform, inside a historic carriage or alongside Queen Victoria's carriage. Where else could you do that?"
She said she was confident that the latest campaign will show off York's potential as "the UK's hotspot for getting hitched".
