Corporate caterers may have to label food with nutrition information
Corporate catering firms could be affected by new Food Standard Association (FSA) proposals to provide consumers with nutrition information.That is according to eventmagazine.co.uk, which has spoken to chief executive of the FSA, Tim Smith, who has said that caterers are "welcomed to join in the consultation" that could see labelling of food become standard practice at corporate events.
The news follows calls for fast food outlets and restaurant chains to provide calorie information on their menus....

Il Bottaccio named top reception venue
Swanky venue Il Bottaccio has been given a prestigious corporate events entertainment award.The venue in Grosvenor Place, London, scooped the Cool Venue Award for best reception venue 2008.
Website Londonlaunch reports that to celebrate, the venue will be offering its clients a ten per cent discount on venue hire for any corporate event or private reception in 2009....

Hotels suffering from economic downturn
UK hotels are continuing to suffer from the economic downturn, according to new figures.Room rates, occupancy and room revenues have all gone down over the past 12 months as the credit crunch takes its toll.
Figures from the PKF Hotel Consultancy Services study showed London room rates were down 5.6 per cent from £137.29 last year to £129.93 this year....

Catering upgrade work starts at leisure centre
The upgrading of Chichester's Westgate Leisure Centre's catering facilities has commenced, it has been revealed.An article in the Chichester Observer suggests the project will be completed in late October.
The bar, cafe and restaurant at the leisure centre will be made into one open-plan area and renamed the Cafe Ravenna, while the building will also benefit from the addition of two sports therapy treatment rooms and two new function rooms - both of which will be available to hire....

New catering academy opened in Kirkby
A new hospital and catering academy has been opened at Kirkby's Ashfield School, it has been reported.It is hoped that the move will encourage pupils to consider employment in the corporate catering and corporate services industry.

Award-winning catering firm wins 50th contract
A catering firm recently named supplier of the year by one of its customers has reached a milestone by securing its 50th client, it has been revealed.According to the Harrogate Advertiser, The Catering People has landed a deal with cleaning product manufacture McBride to provide food for corporate event entertainment at the firm's plant in Middleton, near Manchester.
The Catering People will also stock the restaurant and deli-bar for the McBride's 700 workers....

The spirit of the world-renowned Oktoberfest will be coming to London this autumn as Britons celebrate the beer festival in the capital.It will be the fifth year that the Bavarian Beerhouse will celebrate the popular Wiesn beer festival in Munich.
